Mike Donovan
Mike is a diagnostic engineer on the iCarsoft team. He spends his time on engine-management trouble codes — fuel delivery and fuel trims, ignition and misfires, oxygen and air-fuel sensors, and the camshaft and crankshaft position signals that keep combustion correctly timed.
What I cover
- Fuel delivery and short/long-term fuel trims.
- Ignition, coils and misfire diagnosis.
- Oxygen and air-fuel-ratio sensors.
- Camshaft/crankshaft position and variable valve timing.
How I write these guides
Fuel-and-spark faults are where guessing gets expensive, so I build every guide around the data that actually settles it — fuel trims, O2 switch rates, misfire counters. Each one is checked against the SAE J2012 definition and public OBD references, and I revise them as new engine data and reader reports come in.
