Can a weak battery cause U0073?

Yes. Low voltage during cranking can reset modules and interrupt communication. Charge and test the battery, inspect its connections, and verify charging-system operation. A battery replacement is justified only when testing shows the battery has failed.

Can I drive with U0073?

The code alone does not answer that question. Driving may be reasonable when it is a history code and every system works, but active loss of gauges, steering assistance, brake controls, powertrain communication, or starting requires immediate attention.

Will clearing U0073 fix the vehicle?

Clearing removes the stored record; it does not repair voltage, wiring, connector, or module faults. Save the original scan first, then clear codes only as part of the verification procedure.

Does 60 ohms at the diagnostic connector prove the CAN bus is good?
