Yes! The iCarsoft BMM V4.0 includes lifetime free software upgrades via Wi-Fi. There are zero annual subscription fees or hidden costs. You pay once and get continuous software updates forever.

What's the difference between BMM V4.0 and the older BMM V3.0?

BMM V4.0 is the upgraded successor to BMM V3.0. Vehicle make coverage expansion: BMM V4.0 lets you download two extra vehicle make groups. Hardware upgrade: BMM V4.0 features upgraded hardware (5-inch touchscreen, Android OS, Quad-Core processor, 64GB storage, 5000mAh battery).

The BMM V4.0 cannot recognize my vehicle by AutoVIN, does it mean the device is faulty?

Not at all. AutoVIN depends on individual vehicle ECU protocols. If AutoVIN skips your car, simply use the Manual Selection mode — all diagnostic and service functions will work perfectly. Meanwhile, please send your VIN to our support team; we will verify it and add it to our database in the next software update.

DTCs can be read normally but fail to be cleared or reappear after clearance, why?

Please keep ignition on and engine off. Record freeze frame data first before clearing codes. Persistent hardware faults need physical repair prior to code clearance. Some fault codes of systems like SRS and ABS can only be cleared after finishing bidirectional tests.

The scanner powers on but fails to establish a diagnostic connection. What causes this issue?

Please check the following steps to troubleshoot:

• Check Vehicle Compatibility: Ensure your vehicle is a BMW / Mini / Rolls-Royce (1996-2025) or one of your 2 downloaded vehicle groups.

• Turn Off Power-Saving: Disable any eco/battery-saving modes on the vehicle that might shut down modules during diagnosis.

• Update Device: Connect to Wi-Fi and update both the firmware and vehicle software to the latest versions.

• Check Ignition: Ensure the vehicle key is turned to the "ON" position.

My BMW uses an E-chassis / F-chassis / G-chassis. Does this tool support it?

Yes. The BMM V4.0 fully supports all major BMW generations, including historic E-chassis, modern F-chassis, and the latest G-chassis models.
