What's the difference between LR V4.0 and the older LR V3.0?
LR V4.0 is the update version of LR V3.0. Vehicle make coverage expansion: LR V4.0 enables users to download two extra vehicle make groups. Hardware upgrade: LR V4.0 features upgraded hardware (5-inch touchscreen, Android OS, Quad-Core processor, 64GB storage, 5000mAh battery).
The LR V4.0 cannot recognize my vehicle by AutoVIN, does it mean the device is faulty?
Not at all. AutoVIN depends on individual vehicle ECU protocols. If AutoVIN skips your car, simply use the Manual Selection mode — all diagnostic and service functions will work perfectly. Meanwhile, please send your VIN to our support team; we will verify it and add it to our database in the next software update.
DTCs can be read normally but fail to be cleared or reappear after clearance, why?
Please keep ignition on and engine off. Record freeze frame data first before clearing codes. Persistent hardware faults need physical repair prior to code clearance. Some fault codes of systems like SRS and ABS can only be cleared after finishing bidirectional tests.
The scanner powers on but fails to establish a diagnostic connection. What causes this issue?
Check vehicle compatibility — ensure your vehicle is a Jaguar/Land Rover (1996-2025) or one of your 2 downloaded vehicle groups. Disable any eco/battery-saving modes on the vehicle that might shut down modules during diagnosis. Connect to Wi-Fi and update both the firmware and vehicle software to the latest versions. Ensure the vehicle key is turned to the "ON" position.
Does the LR V4.0 work on my Range Rover?
Yes, absolutely! The LR V4.0 offers deep, dealer-level diagnostic coverage for the entire Range Rover family, including the Range Rover Vogue, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover Velar across all major production years.

It would be nice to know which functions can or cannot be preformed by a particular device. I understand this varies greatly by vehicle brand and model, but this information is important to buyers. Expecting buyers to communicate all desired functions for their vehicle with support staff is not very efficient. I also understand some functions are only found on higher priced/quality scanners.

Wow, after owning my Carson’s for a couple weeks, I don’t know how I managed without it for my entire LR ownership. My RR has been problematic, however, since having an icarsoft diagnostic tool, now I can perform my own diagnostic/repair.
This tool has been awesome.

I purchased the LRv4 as an upgrade and replacement for my LRv3. The main reasons for upgrading were the touch screen and the ability to download updates without needing to connect to a PC.
The unit is about the same size as the v3. It has a built in Battery so you don't need to be connected to a power supply to update or use. There is no sd card required as everything gets downloaded to onboard memory. Unit was preloaded with Jag/ LandRover software, but you can download another 2 manufacturers software for free if you want.
I found the user interface easy to use and navigating is similar to the v3, but done by touchscreen. All the diagnostic and Service options I would normally use are here and appear to work well. There are lots of other options as well that I have yet to fully explore, but they seem pretty comprehensive.
