On these cars, a pile of simultaneous ECU codes almost always has one root cause: diesel that has wicked up the wiring and into the ECU. What these codes mean
BMW and MINI don’t use the generic P-code format here — they use hex codes like 24CF00. Individually, the ones in this case sit around the charging-pressure / boost control and related electrical circuits. Read one in isolation and you’d go chasing a boost sensor or actuator. But that’s the trap — here they arrive as a set, and the set is the story.
Why so many at once
When a genuinely broad mix of circuits faults simultaneously — boost control, plus odd extras like tyre-pressure (RDC) warnings that have nothing to do with boost — it almost never means every one of those components failed on the same day. It means something upstream and shared is corrupting many signals together. The common electrical junction those signals pass through is the ECU and its connector. That’s where you look.
The real cause: diesel in the ECU
Here’s the “real fix” the video is built around. On BMW/MINI diesels, fuel can seep from a leaking injector or fuel line and then wick along the wiring harness — capillary action pulls diesel down the loom — until it reaches the ECU plug and the circuit board inside. Once diesel is in the connector, it bridges and corrodes pins and contaminates the board, producing widespread, intermittent electrical faults that light up a whole page of codes.
It’s a known, frustrating pattern on these cars — frustrating enough that the video argues it should be a recall. The good news: once you understand the mechanism, the repair is logical.

Diagnose — don’t just swap parts
- Plug in the iCarsoft CR Max P and read all modules. Capture the full list of codes — the pattern matters more than any single code.
- Notice the spread: boost codes plus unrelated ones (like RDC). That breadth is your clue it’s a shared electrical cause.
- Inspect the ECU connector and harness for diesel — look and smell for fuel at the plug and along the loom.
- Resist swapping the sensor each code names. Confirm the root cause first.

Clean the ECU & connector
Once you’ve found diesel at the plug, the repair is methodical:
- Remove the ECU and open it up. Work from the connector end inward.
- Clean the circuit board and pins thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner to remove all diesel residue.
- Clean the connector and the wiring loom the diesel travelled down — it hides inside the insulation.
- Let everything dry fully before reassembly so no residue bridges contacts.

Fix the diesel source (or it comes back)
This is the step that makes the repair stick. Cleaning removes today’s contamination, but if diesel can still escape it will simply wick back into the ECU and re-set the codes. So find and fix where the diesel is getting out — commonly leaking injector seals/leak-off pipes or a weeping fuel line — and, as the video notes, if a section of loom is saturated, replace that wiring too. Seal the loom entry so capillary action can’t start again.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Chasing each code with a new sensor — expensive, and the codes return.
- Clearing codes and hoping — without cleaning and sealing, they come straight back.
- Cleaning but ignoring the leak source — diesel wicks back into the ECU.
- Reusing badly soaked wiring — saturated loom keeps feeding diesel in; replace it.
- Reassembling wet — residual cleaner/fuel bridges pins; let it dry.
