Driver's Therapy put the iCarsoft CR Max P into a 2017 Acura NSX and used it as a working diagnostic tool, not a studio prop. The review shows wireless vehicle identification, a full-system scan, TPMS fault handling, the service menu, the included hardware and one service function that did not work on this particular car.
The iCarsoft CR Max P connected to the 2017 NSX by Bluetooth, identified the car with AutoVIN, scanned its control modules and cleared two TPMS faults before confirming that no TPMS fault code remained. The attempted oil-reset routine returned a communication/application failure. That mixed result is useful: the core scan workflow worked, while the video also exposed a real vehicle-specific service limitation.
Key results from the NSX test
- AutoVIN identified the car as a 2017 Acura NSX and supplied the VIN on screen.
- The wireless VCI let the presenter run a full-system scan from the driver's seat without a cable across the cabin.
- The scan found right-front and left-front TPMS sensor faults, which were cleared and then checked again.
- The NSX oil-reset procedure did not complete through the scanner; the car uses its own vehicle-control procedure for that reset.
- The review demonstrated the DTC library with P0174, but it did not diagnose or repair a lean-condition fault.

What the video tested, and what it did not
The vehicle is a 2017 Acura NSX. The presenter connects the CR Max P, lets AutoVIN identify the car and starts an Auto Scan. He then opens the detected faults, clears the TPMS entries, checks that module again, browses the service menu, attempts an oil reset, shows the kit contents and looks up P0174 in the built-in code library.
| Function | Video result | What the footage proves |
|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth connection and AutoVIN | Completed | The VCI connects wirelessly and the tablet identifies the 2017 NSX. |
| Full-system Auto Scan | Completed | The scanner polls multiple modules and displays module-level fault results. |
| TPMS code reading and clearing | Completed | Two front-sensor faults are read, cleared and followed by a no-fault-code result. |
| NSX oil reset | Attempted, not completed | The selected routine returns communication/application failure on this vehicle. |
| TPMS reset or programming | Menu opened only | The presenter enters the TPMS area but does not complete or verify programming. |
| ABS bleed, DPF regeneration, battery registration and active tests | Discussed, not demonstrated | The features appear in menus or commentary; the NSX review does not complete these procedures. |
| P0174 code-library lookup | Completed | The library returns "System Too Lean Bank 2." No lean-condition diagnosis follows. |
Clearing a DTC is not the same as fixing its cause. Save the original scan, inspect the vehicle and confirm that the fault does not return. Low voltage was suggested in the video as a possible reason for a steering-related entry, but no battery test was performed to prove that explanation.
Bluetooth setup and AutoVIN on the 2017 Acura NSX
The CR Max P uses a detachable vehicle communication interface at the back of the tablet. In this test, the VCI is connected to the NSX and the tablet communicates with it over Bluetooth. A wired connection is also discussed, but the presenter chooses wireless operation.
That arrangement is practical inside a low, tight cabin. The diagnostic tablet can sit on the presenter's lap while the interface stays at the OBD port. In a workshop, the same separation lets a technician move around a vehicle while watching data or operating a supported test.
AutoVIN saves time, but it should still be checked against the car. A wrong model year, regional selection or manually chosen variant can change the module list and service-function coverage. Here, the on-screen result matches the car used in the review.
Full-system scanning and the TPMS fault result
The Auto Scan reaches beyond generic engine OBD2 data. The results include multiple vehicle systems, and the presenter opens the tire-pressure monitoring module after the scan flags faults for the right-front and left-front sensors. He associates those entries with a change between winter and summer wheel sets.
The codes are cleared, then the TPMS module is read again. The follow-up screen reports that no fault code is found. This confirms that the scanner performed the read-clear-recheck workflow during the filming. It does not confirm the long-term condition of either sensor. A sensor with a weak battery, incorrect ID or intermittent communication can set a code again after driving.
A better way to use the clear function
- Save the pre-scan and note the module, code number and status.
- Check tire pressures, installed wheel sensors and recent wheel or battery work.
- Clear the codes only after recording them.
- Cycle the ignition or complete the required drive procedure, then scan again.
- If a code returns, diagnose that sensor or circuit rather than clearing it repeatedly.
Service functions: broad menu, vehicle-specific results
The service screen shown in the video includes Oil Reset, EPB, ABS Bleeding, BMS, TPMS Reset, Injector Coding, Gear Learning and other maintenance routines. The presenter also mentions battery registration on a Porsche GT4 from previous work. That Porsche procedure is not shown in this NSX test.
The most informative moment is the failed oil-reset attempt. The CR Max P enters the Acura oil-reset path, but the NSX returns "Communication failed" and "Application failed." The presenter explains that this NSX resets its maintenance reminder through the vehicle's own controls instead of this scan-tool routine.
Check coverage by VIN and function. "Supports Acura" and "supports oil reset" are broad statements; the useful question is whether CR Max P supports the required routine on your exact model year, vehicle platform and ECU. Contact iCarsoft US support with the VIN when a specific active test, coding function or service routine is essential.
For a closer look at a newer CR Max P feature, see the guide to Topology Mapping and its vehicle-specific coverage. The same rule applies there: broad scanner coverage does not make every advanced function universal.
Tablet, VCI, case and included accessories
The hardware tour shows a rugged tablet with an adjustable rear stand, the detachable VCI, a fitted carrying case, a charger, a screen-cleaning cloth and several cables or adapters. The tablet's larger display is easy to read in the NSX, and the stand keeps it upright on the work cart during the kit overview.
The home screen also has a Videoscope app. The presenter is clear that the inspection camera is optional and is not included in the kit he is showing. That distinction matters because a software icon can remain visible even when the matching accessory is sold separately.
The built-in P0174 code-library demonstration
Near the end of the video, the presenter opens the fault-code library and enters P0174. The CR Max P returns the generic definition "System Too Lean Bank 2." This is a convenient reference when a code number is available but the scanner is not currently connected to the vehicle that set it.
A definition is the beginning of diagnosis. P0174 can be associated with unmetered air, fuel-delivery problems, sensor bias or other conditions, depending on the vehicle. A useful next step is to read freeze-frame data, compare fuel trims by bank and test the system indicated by the evidence. Do not replace parts from the code description alone.
Who should consider the CR Max P?
Experienced multi-brand DIY owners
A fit when routine code reading is not enough and you need module scans, live data, reports or supported service work across several cars.
Independent technicians
The wireless VCI and large tablet suit pre-scans, post-scans and jobs that require moving around the vehicle.
Buyers with verified functions
The strongest purchase case is a confirmed list of vehicles and tasks, checked by VIN before relying on an advanced routine.
Not ideal for basic code checks only
If you only need generic check-engine codes, a smaller scanner may be easier to own and cost less.
The NSX video supports a measured verdict. CR Max P handled the wireless identification and scan workflow well, provided useful module-level information and exposed a clear service-function limit instead of hiding it. That is more helpful than a feature list without a car attached.

iCarsoft CR Max P review FAQ
Does the iCarsoft CR Max P work on a 2017 Acura NSX?
It worked for Bluetooth connection, AutoVIN, a full-system scan and the TPMS code read-clear-recheck sequence shown in this video. The oil-reset routine did not complete. Coverage must be checked by vehicle and by function.
Can CR Max P clear TPMS fault codes?
In the video, CR Max P reads right-front and left-front TPMS sensor faults, clears them and then reports no fault code on the follow-up read. Clearing a code does not repair a weak, incorrect or failing sensor, so rescan after the required drive cycle.
Why did the oil reset fail on the Acura NSX?
The CR Max P displayed communication/application failure during the attempted oil-reset path. The presenter explains that this NSX uses the vehicle's own controls for the maintenance reset. Service routines vary by make, model, year and ECU.
Does the CR Max P connect wirelessly?
Yes. The review uses the detachable VCI and Bluetooth connection to scan the NSX. A wired connection is also discussed, giving the operator a fallback when a direct cable is preferred.
Is a videoscope included with CR Max P?
Not in the package shown in this video. The tablet includes a Videoscope app, but the presenter identifies the inspection camera as an optional accessory. Check the current product package before ordering.
What does P0174 mean?
The CR Max P library defines generic P0174 as "System Too Lean Bank 2." The definition does not identify the failed part. Use vehicle-specific information, freeze-frame data, fuel trims and physical tests to find the cause.
Does CR Max P include free software updates?
The current CR Max P product information lists lifetime free Wi-Fi software updates. Available functions can still vary by vehicle platform, ECU and installed software package, so an update does not guarantee support for every routine.
